The B.C. Government has numerous virtual services available for families and friends, as well as individuals. These include immediate help, low-cost counselling, courses and supports for people of all ages, genders and backgrounds experiencing mental illness and/or addiction.
The Canadian Government “Mental Health Support: Get Help” online resource offers several free supports for mental illness and/or addiction for families & friends, as well as individuals.
MHFA is a type of first aid class offered around the world. This is an example of an MHFA class teaching how to help someone with an emerging health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate treatment is found or the situation is resolved. Classes are available in Prince George TBD.
SMART Family & Friends provides resources to help you support someone struggling with addiction. Learn valuable strategies to better cope and regain peace of mind.
Virtual NAMI support groups based in Cook County, IL are free for Canadians to join as well (2 hours ahead of B.C. time). NAMI provides several types of online groups for family, parents, partners and close friends of adults living with a mental illness.
