Individuals with a mental illness and/or addiction may qualify for several free and subsidized programs 

Free Food, Clothing & Furniture

Once you qualify, the Salvation Army at 1-250-564-4000 provides food, clothing and furniture for those in need. This includes families with children, multiple adults or single people.

Services available at a reduced cost for those in need at the Emergency Dental Outreach Clinic 250-613-7246 at the Prince George Native Friendship Centre. See also link to BC Government subsidy.

Free Meds Plan G Ongoing Support

A no-charge psychiatric medication plan available to individuals registered with a mental health service centre and who demonstrate clinical and financial need. Talk to your doctor for more information.

Fuel Tax Refund

The B.C. Fuel Tax Refund Program for persons with disabilities can help reduce your transportation costs. You can apply for a refund of your fuel receipts to a maximum of $500 annually by registering with this program.

The BC Bus Pass Program offers a reduced cost, annual bus pass for low income seniors and individuals receiving disability assistance from the Province of British Columbia.

Shelter Aid for Seniors

The Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters (SAFER) is available to qualifying seniors in B.C. The program provides direct cash assistance to eligible residents of B.C. who are age 60 or over and who pay rent for their homes.

Better at Home for Seniors

This United Way program offers many options to help seniors living at home including friendly visiting, transportation, light yard work, minor home repairs, snow shoveling, light housekeeping and grocery shopping. Contact the Prince George Seniors Resource Centre at 250-564-5888 for  information.
